Soundscapes of Expression — Empowering Educators with Music Therapy
The Vision
What if every teacher possessed the tools to not only teach a child, but to truly understand and support their emotional world? What if music could be used not just for entertainment, but as a powerful instrument for building confidence, fostering inclusion, and soothing the small anxieties of a child’s day?
Our Mission
Through our Erasmus+ project, “The Healing Harmony,” LANA is taking a leading role in answering these questions. In a groundbreaking partnership with the Montessori Institute of Latvia, we are co-creating a new methodology to train kindergarten teachers in the practical application of music therapy techniques.
Our goal is to move beyond traditional music lessons and empower educators with strategies that use the therapeutic power of rhythm, melody, and sound to create more engaging, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environments for all children.
The Process: Learning and Leading
This project is a deep, collaborative journey. Our teachers engage in hands-on training and reflective practice with their Latvian counterparts, building on their existing experience and gaining powerful new competencies. They are not just learning techniques; they are becoming pioneers in an approach that helps children:
- Develop stronger and more confident communication skills.
- Connect more easily and empathetically with their peers.
- Find a healthy and creative outlet for self-expression.

But our vision extends beyond our own walls. As part of this project, we are creating tangible, lasting resources:
- A multilingual guidebook (in English, Estonian, and Latvian) filled with practical techniques and lesson plans, which we will share openly.
- Workshops for parents and local educators, providing our community with tools to harness the power of music at home and in other schools.
By investing in the highest level of teacher training and sharing our knowledge, we are not only enhancing the daily experience for the children at LANA but also contributing to building a more connected, compassionate, and inclusive educational landscape for everyone.
